About us

ETHOS

We believe that autism and learning disabilities are a different way of thinking, not something that defines an individual. We believe that respecting this view will be fundamental to providing high quality care.

We not only accept, but embrace the individuality of every person with autism and learning disabilities. With our support, we will give people with autism a voice to have control over their lives, the way they wish to live it.

AIMS

Our aims at supported steps are to provide a high standard of living for disabled young adults in an intimate home-from-home environment, and to encourage the independence of service users, regardless of their level of ability.

We also strive to provide employment for local people.

TESTIMONIALS

Mark was our autistic son's key worker at nursery. He was a fantastic support for the whole family as we prepared O for the transition to primary school. Mark really understood O and worked with all the other nursery staff and O's specialist support workers to ensure he was happy and progressing at nursery and was instrumental along with the SenCo at the nursery in helping us to get O's EHCP. Mark is also very knowledgeable about other sources of help and was always so friendly and supportive. Thank you for everything.

CHANGES AT SUPPORTED STEPS

CHANGES TO THE HOUSE

Since opening we have made two major changes to the house:

1. We have converted a small en suit bathroom, small cupboard and old boiler cupboard into a large second shower room upstairs.

2. We are in the process of converting the garage into a second living room and a staff room.

3. Supported Steps' residents are encouraged to demonstrate their individual artistic flair by decorating their own bedrooms.

4. We are very pleased with our garden transformation this year!

5. In Mereside, our new kitchen-diner gives us so much more space!

6. In March 2023 Supported Steps opened our second property in Ramsey, and everyone has settled in well over the year!
